The first item is a one-page typed letter signed (TLS) by author Danielle Steel, dated August 9, 1996. The letter is produced on personal stationery with a header reading Danielle Steel, P. O. Box 1637, Murray Hill Station, New York, New York 10156. The footer lists thirty-nine of the author’s book titles, ranging from Malice to Going Home. Addressed to Mr. Craig Peron of Staten Island, New York, the text thanks the recipient for his correspondence regarding her book The Gift and states her policy of not signing books through the mail.
