BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Collection of 19th and 20th Century Periodicals, Advertisements, and Ephemera

An assortment of paper ephemera and periodicals spanning the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries. The collection includes two issues of Harpers Weekly: the May 6, 1865, edition (Vol. IX, No. 436) featuring a front-page engraving titled President Lincoln at Home, and the April 13, 1912, edition (Vol. LVI, No. 2886) with a cover illustration titled The Colonel in Action depicting Theodore Roosevelt. Also present is an August 1902 issue of Success magazine published by The Success Company in New York City, featuring a color lithographed cover.

Additional material includes loose mid-century magazine advertisements, notably a 1949 Seagrams Ancient Bottle Gin advertisement and a Camel cigarette 30-Day Test advertisement featuring multiple celebrity testimonials. Ephemeral items include a Lion Coffee midsummer greeting trade card from the Woolson Spice Co. of Toledo, Ohio, and a small staple-bound booklet titled Wild Flowers (No. 2) from the Bancroft Tiddlers series.

The largest item in the group is a large-format black-and-white portrait of a woman in late Victorian-era dress, which appears to be a photographic enlargement or crayon portrait mounted on a flexible, canvas-textured fabric backing.

Condition report:

Items are in fair to good condition overall, showing characteristic signs of age. Significant wear is noted on the 1865 Harpers Weekly, including deep creasing, edge tears, and tanning. The large-format portrait photograph exhibits a prominent vertical crease through the center and some loss at the corners of the mounting board. Success magazine and its loose pages show chipping and edge wear. The Lion Coffee trade card and Bancroft Tiddlers booklet are in good condition with minor foxing and corner wear. General tanning and occasional foxing are present throughout the collection.
