This collection consists of three binders containing Fleetwood Proofcards produced in Cheyenne, Wyoming, dating from approximately 1980 through 1997. Each proofcard is a large-format cardstock print featuring an original painting or illustration, descriptive historical or thematic text, a corresponding United States postage stamp, and an official First Day of Issue postmark from a relevant postal location. The collection includes various themes such as aviation history featuring Alfred Verville, military figures including General Bernardo de Galvez and Benjamin O. Davis Senior, and the 1993 Rock and Roll / Rhythm and Blues legends series with Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and Otis Redding. Other represented subjects include the 1983 Olympic Games (Judo and Women’s Fencing), American folk art decoys, steam locomotives, fishing boats, and botanical series. Original artwork is attributed to several artists including James Bama, Mel Crawford, Gordon Drummond, and Tom McNeely. Each card bears a printed Fleetwood copyright and series identification numbers such as 82000, 82008, 82400, and 55273. The collection is housed in two blue vinyl binders and one brown binder.
Condition report:
The individual proofcards are in excellent condition, appearing well-preserved within clear plastic archival sleeves. The printed artwork, descriptive text, and postage stamps remain vibrant with no visible fading or staining. The binders are in good functional condition with signs of shelf wear. The two blue binders have handwritten dates in marker on the front covers. The brown binder includes original indexing labels on the front cover.
