This collection consists of the complete original eleven-issue run of Black Lightning Volume 1, published by DC Comics between April 1977 and October 1978. The set includes issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Issue number 1 is a key issue featuring the first appearance and origin of Jefferson Pierce, known as Black Lightning, who was the first African-American superhero to star in a DC Comics solo title. Issue number 11 marks the conclusion of the series and includes the first installment of The New Adventures of the Ray backup feature. Most covers retain good color and gloss. Spines appear generally intact with no evidence of cover detachment visible through the packaging. Minor shelf wear and edge blunting consistent with age are present across the set.
