This group consists of 11 vintage Black Panther comic books published by Marvel Comics between 1974 and 1988. The collection includes seven issues of the series Jungle Action featuring The Black Panther, specifically numbers 9, 11, 15, 17, 18, 21, and 24. These Bronze Age issues contain parts of the Panther’s Rage story arc, with issue 17 featuring the climax and issue 24 containing the first appearance of Wind-Eagle. One issue from the 1977 standalone Black Panther title is included, number 7, which was produced by Jack Kirby. Completing the collection are issues 1, 2, and 4 from the 1988 Black Panther limited series. The Jungle Action covers were illustrated by Gil Kane and Klaus Janson, and the 1988 series covers were illustrated by Denys Cowan. Each book is housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a backing board. All are original United States editions.
Condition report:
The earlier Bronze Age comic books generally range from Good to Fine condition, displaying common signs of age such as spine stress, small creases, and corner wear. Jungle Action number 15 shows more pronounced wear, including a spine roll and surface abrasions on the front cover. The three issues from the 1988 limited series appear to be in higher grades, estimated between Very Fine and Near Mint, characterized by sharp corners and reflective cover gloss. Covers remain attached on all issues.
