This is an autographed Wilson official NFL football featuring two white panels for signatures and two brown pebbled leather panels. The ball bears the facsimile signature of former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue. The white panels contain six distinct signatures from notable former Notre Dame football players, written in black ink. The identified signatures include Bob Gladieux with the inscription #20 ’66 National Champs; Mike McCoy with the inscription ND-NFL; Nick Eddy with the inscriptions #47 and ND ’64-’66; Tommy Longo with the inscription 9; Chris Zorich with the inscription #51 and ’87 encircled; and Ross Browner with the inscriptions N.D. #89 and Cin. Bengals #79. The ball features standard Wilson branding, Made in USA labeling, and inflation instructions. There are no visible third-party authentication stickers or accompanying certificates of authenticity shown.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Condition report:
The football is in excellent condition. The signatures are clear and bold with no evidence of fading or ink bleeding. The white panels and brown leather surfaces are clean and free of significant scuffs, abrasions, or discoloration. The ball is inflated and maintains its shape.
