BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Group of Eight Vintage Autographed Topps Hockey Cards and One 1993 Classic Hockey Draft Picks Boxed Set
This lot features eight individual vintage hockey trading cards and one boxed card set. The individual cards are primarily Topps brand and each features a player signature. The group includes one 1978-79 Topps Jacques Lemaire card number 60 for the Montreal Canadiens, signed in black ink with the inscription Best wishes. There are two 1980-81 Topps Bob Gainey cards number 23 for the Montreal Canadiens, both signed in black ink; one is loose and the other is protected in a hard plastic screw-down holder. A 1980-81 Topps Bryan Trottier card number 19 for the New York Islanders is signed in blue ink and includes the player number 19. A 1980-81 Topps Rejean Houle card number 15 for the Montreal Canadiens is signed in blue ink across the player image. A 1980-81 Topps Don Murdoch card number 51 for the Edmonton Oilers is signed in blue ink across the player image. A 1981-82 Topps Butch Goring card number 12 for the New York Islanders is signed in red ink across the player image. A 1990-91 Topps Joe Mullen card number 264 for the Calgary Flames is signed in black ink and features a notation stating the player was now with the Penguins. The collection also contains a 1993 Classic Hockey Draft Picks boxed set, including the original white cardboard box and two stacks of cards in original factory shrink-wrap. Visible top cards in the set include Alexander Kharlamov and Aaron Gavey.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Condition report:
The individual cards are in raw, ungraded condition. They exhibit minor corner wear and varying centering consistent with age. One Gainey card is secured in a plastic holder. The signatures have not been professionally authenticated. The 1993 boxed set remains in its original cardboard box and the internal cards are in factory shrink-wrap.
