This lot features three original Silver Age comic books from the DC Comics series Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen, published by National Periodical Publications. The first comic is issue number 70, dated July 1963, with a 12 cent cover price. The cover art depicts the story The Secret of Silver Kryptonite! and shows Jimmy Olsen exposing Superman to a silver rock while various other Kryptonite colors are shown in a thought bubble. The second comic is issue number 92, dated April 1966, with a 12 cent cover price. The cover features Jimmy Olsen as Agent Double-5 in a conflict with a Superman-Batman team from S.C.A.R. and includes the story Olsen’s Voyage to the Unknown!. The third comic is an 80-Page Giant issue, G-38 (also numbered as 104), dated September 1967, with a 25 cent cover price. Titled Jimmy’s Weirdest Adventures, the cover illustrates multiple classic tales including The Boy Witch Doctor!, Captive of the Tiny Supermen!, and The Giant Turtle Olsen!. Each book is housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a cardboard backing. Cover illustrations are in the mid-1960s DC house style.
Condition report:
The comics are in varying raw conditions. Issue 70 shows heavy wear, including a large diagonal crease and fold on the bottom right corner, spine stress marks, and noticeable tanning of the cover paper. Issue 92 appears to be in mid-grade condition, showing wear along the spine with color-breaking stress lines, minor blunting to the corners, and light surface scuffing. Issue G-38 (No. 104) retains vibrant cover color with light spine wear, minor bumping at the corners, and slight edge wear along the top and bottom borders.
