A collection of Dragonrunes fantasy-themed zines and newsletters, primarily published by Envoy Press for the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) regional branches in the Chicago, Illinois area, specifically the Province of Tree-Girt-Sea and the College of the Gray Gargoyles. The collection encompasses several individual issues dating from Anno Societatis (AS) XIV to AS XVI (circa 1979–1981), along with a compilation volume titled The Best of Dragonrunes, vol. 1. The items are softcover, staple-bound pamphlets in an octavo format. These publications were edited by chroniclers Friar Bertram (Dave Schroeder) and Eromene Aspasia (Amy Guildroy), with copyright notices attributed to Barbara Green Deer and Jody Nye. The newsletters feature extensive black-and-white line art and fantasy illustrations on the covers and interiors by artists including Bianca Rosamund, Joserlin, and Casey (Lasley 1980). One cover bears the signature Bianca Rosamund 79. Notable contents include the Pennsic X issue (August AS XV), a special edition for The Coronation of Calpmar and Valmai, and an issue featuring The Goose Prince (November AS XIV). The text identifies regional SCA officers, meeting schedules at the University of Chicago, and various local shires.

Each pamphlet measures approximately 5.5 x 8.5 inches.

Condition report:

The collection shows condition consistent with age and use as ephemeral newsletters. General signs of wear include moderate shelf wear, age-toning to the paper stock, and minor corner creasing. A significant condition issue is present on the March AS XV issue, which features a large brown liquid stain on the front cover that appears to have penetrated several interior pages. Staples on most volumes show minor surface oxidation. Occasional minor foxing and thumbing are present throughout the set.
