A group of railroad reference volumes and various vintage paper ephemera. The collection includes several quarto-sized hardcover volumes with original dust jackets: American Locomotives: A Pictorial Record of Steam Power 1900-1950 by Edwin P. Alexander; The Locomotives that Baldwin Built by Fred Westing (Superior Publishing Co.), which contains a complete facsimile history of the Baldwin Locomotive Works from 1831-1923; The Encyclopedia of Trains & Locomotives: From 1804 to the Present Day edited by David Ross (Thunder Bay Press); and More Classic American Railroads by Mike Schafer (MBI Publishing).

Ephemera in the lot consists of a Pennsylvania Railroad Philadelphia Region Time-Table No. 2 dated October 28, 1956; a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad System Time Table dated December 12, 1937; a Kalmbach Publishing Trains Railroad Map of Pennsylvania in its original printed envelope; a January 1958 issue of the Pennsylvania Railroad newsletter Train Talks featuring the article Mile-a-Minute Meals; a Western Maryland Railway Co. envelope from the Assistant Controller office in Hagerstown, Maryland; and a two-page typed historical summary titled Pennsylvania Railroad Diesels, 1945-1968.


Condition report:

The hardcover books show minor shelf wear and edge rubbing to the dust jackets. Interior pages are clean with standard toning. Ephemera items exhibit age-related toning and minor creasing. The railroad map envelope has pencil notations on the lower face. The Western Maryland envelope shows typical office handling including punch holes.
