Description
BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! A Collection of US Colonial Reproduction Banknotes and Modern Novelty Currency
This collection consists of multiple historical reproductions and novelty currency items. A primary component of the group is a set of reproduction US colonial and continental currency notes, including examples representing Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Georgia, mostly dated 1776. These are printed on antiqued, parchment-style paper, and several examples feature the word COPY printed in the margins. Also included is a reproduction Series of 1864 US Confederate States of America $1 bill (Type 71) from Richmond, dated February 17, 1864, featuring facsimile signatures and a central vignette of Lucy Pickens. The lot further contains a large modern novelty One Million Dollar bill with a portrait of Benjamin Franklin and a religious tract on the reverse, along with two miniature novelty banknotes. These items are characteristic of educational souvenir sets sold at historical sites.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition. The modern novelty pieces appear crisp and Uncirculated. The colonial and Confederate reproduction notes exhibit intentional antiquing, including yellowed paper, simulated staining, and uneven edges meant to mimic age. Some notes show soft folds and minor handling wear. None of the items are professionally graded or slabbed.
