BID PER WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, NOT THE AI GENERATED TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS! Large Collection of Vintage and Modern Baseball Trading Cards Including 1970s-2000s Issues and Rookie Cards
This lot consists of an extensive multi-brand collection of baseball trading cards, primarily dating from the mid-1970s through the early 2000s. Manufacturers represented include Topps, Topps Chrome, Stadium Club, Upper Deck, Fleer, Donruss, Bowman, Score, and Leaf, along with regional or promotional issues such as Post Cereal and Drake’s. The collection features a significant number of cards from the 1980s and 1990s. Notable individual cards observed in protective housing include a 1976 Topps Willie Randolph rookie card (No. 592), a Topps Chrome Troy Tulowitzki rookie card (No. 331), a 1990 Donruss Juan Gonzalez rookie card (No. 33), and a 1992 Donruss Kenny Lofton rookie card (No. 35). The collection also includes stars and Hall of Fame players such as Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Tony Gwynn, Bo Jackson, Ryne Sandberg, Darryl Strawberry, and Babe Ruth from the All-Time Greats novelty series. Also present are various 1991 Topps 40th Anniversary cards. The items are stored in one large cardboard storage box, a smaller card box, and numerous individual plastic top-loaders and soft penny sleeves.
Provenance / Authentication Note: This item originates from a single-owner collection assembled by a dedicated sports fan (with a strong focus on Notre Dame and New York Yankees memorabilia). The collector actively pursued autographs over many years through in-person events, including games, autograph shows, and visits to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during player events, as well as through direct mail requests to athletes and celebrities. The collection included supporting material such as handwritten correspondence sent to athletes (in some cases with payment enclosed), along with photographs of the collector with various signers. A portion of this same collection was featured in our March 21st auction, where multiple items were authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA). In regards to any items with signature(s): While this specific item(s) may not be individually submitted for third-party authentication, it originates from the same collection and shows consistency with previously authenticated pieces. As with many large autograph collections, there may be a small number of facsimile or clubhouse-style signatures present, but for the most part we have seen AUTHENTIC SIGNATURES within the collection. Based on the overall provenance and our review, we maintain a strong level of confidence in the authenticity of most items. Bidders are encouraged to review all photos carefully and bid according to their own level of comfort. No additional authentication documentation is included unless visible within the lot photos. Please reach out with any questions.
Condition report:
The cards are in ungraded condition. Cards held in protective top-loaders and sleeves generally appear to be in Excellent to Near-Mint condition with sharp corners and good centering. The bulk cards stored loose in cardboard boxes exhibit varying degrees of handling wear, including softened corners, minor edge chipping, and surface scuffing typical of large volume storage.
