This lot features a collection of three Silver Age comic books from the DC Comics title Blackhawk, published by National Comics Publications (bearing the Superman DC National Comics logo). The collection consists of issues 155, 157, and 159, dating from December 1960 to April 1961. Issue 155 (December 1960) features the cover story The Wedding of Lady Blackhawk! with a 10 cent cover price. Issue 157 (February 1961) features the story The Film Menagerie! with a 10 cent cover price. Issue 159 (April 1961) features the story The Human Mines! and is marked Still 10 cents. Each comic is an uncertified raw copy and comes housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a cardboard backing. The cover art is characteristic of the early 1960s DC style, typically associated with artists Dick Dillin and Sheldon Moldoff. All issues include the Approved by the Comics Code Authority seal.
Condition report:
The comics are in mid-to-lower grade condition with wear typical for vintage newsstand copies. Issue 155 shows visible spine stress marks, blunted corners, edge wear, and a noticeable crease on the bottom right corner of the front cover. Issue 157 presents with spine stress lines, minor chipping along the bottom edge, and a light crease on the bottom right corner. Issue 159 shows significant creasing on the right side of the front cover, spine wear with stress marks, and a small tear at the bottom right corner. All three issues exhibit tanning of the paper edges consistent with age.
