This color lithograph on textured wove paper is by the American cartoonist Al Capp (1909-1979) and features characters from his comic strip Li’l Abner. The scene depicts a classic Dogpatch chase sequence with a speech bubble reading WHUFFO IS YO CHASIN A MERE SUIT O CLOTHES, BOUNCEY-BELLE? AH CAUGHT TWO FLESH-AN-BLOOD CRITTERS – AN YO IS WELCOME TO EITHER ONE -. The artwork is signed in pencil at the lower right Al Capp -74. It is inscribed lower right EA 17/20, identifying it as an Artist Proof (Epreuve d Artiste) from a limited edition of 20. The print is housed in a black wooden frame with a white mat.
